Examinations & Tests

At St. John’s Matric Hr. Sec. School, our examination and assessment system is designed to foster continuous academic improvement, accountability, and readiness for higher learning. We believe that fair and consistent evaluation motivates students to achieve their personal best while developing confidence and responsibility.

Assessment Structure

  • Three Terminal Examinations are conducted in an academic year:
    • Term I – September
    • Term II – December
    • Term III / Annual Exam – April
  • Mid-Term Tests are scheduled prior to each terminal examination to prepare students thoroughly and identify learning gaps.
  • Weekly Tests / Class Assessments are conducted to maintain consistency in learning and academic discipline.

Promotion Policy

  • Promotion to the next class is based on cumulative performance throughout the academic year.
  • Attendance, class performance, assignment completion, test scores, and terminal exam results are all taken into account.
  • Special tests or re-examinations will not be conducted for students absent without valid reasons.

Attendance & Eligibility

  • Students must maintain regular attendance and show consistent effort in all subjects.
  • Minimum attendance of 85% is required to be eligible for final examinations and promotion.
  • Students absent for annual exams without valid medical or acceptable reasons will be considered for detention.
  • In case of genuine medical emergencies, year-round academic performance may be considered by the Principal for promotion decisions.

Examination Rules

  • Use of unfair means or malpractice during exams will lead to serious disciplinary action, including possible disqualification.
  • Students must arrive punctually with required materials—pen, pencil, geometry box, etc.
  • No re-examination will be held for absentees without a valid reason and prior intimation.
  • Parents must sign and return the report cards within 3 days of issue.
